Music on the MOve: Asia
SAMA’s musical tour series will take audiences through the Japanese, Chinese and Korean Art Collections. This performance by Musical Offerings features works for the Japanese shakuhachi (bamboo flute) and compositions by contemporary composers for string ensemble including Voyage and Forest Whispers by Marty Regan, assistant professor of music at Texas A&M University. Wear comfortable shoes for standing; stools will be provided for sitting.

Eight Chinese Folk Songs and Song of the Ch’in , for string quartet, by Zhou Long Song of the Beggars, by Hyo-shin Na; commissioned by the Kronos Quartet Voyage for shakuhachi and string quartet, and Forest Whispers for cello and shakuhachi, by Marty Regan Two solo works for shakuhachi performed by Martha Fabrique Admission: $8 for Members, $12 for non-members.
